hm... Hm.... HM!?!

I remember a game I used to play back in my early years called Final Fantasy 3. This music matches it almost perfectly as I can now see myself playing the game while listening to it. It loops almost perfectly, and I can surely let you know that your effort was not wasted when spending a lot of time on the trumpet notes and the way it sounds. I can tell that you spent a good while on that instrument alone.

I'm not going to discuss the quality of samples, because I don't really care about samples or real music, or whatnot. What I care about is the score and the way things come together in music. Honestly, I haven't heard music like this in a while - so it's good that there's someone who still fights the good fight (or whatever that means.)

I hope you continue to grow in music and I do hope to hear more from you in the near future,

Bosa

SolusLunes responds:

Ah, good that you're going to ignore the quality of the samples, as it is something that has been niggling on me for a little while, as I've gotten better at composing.

(Though right now I'm currently saving up for a copy of East West. Glee. Sure I could pirate it, but that wouldn't be any different than anyone else, would it?)

The trumpet was spent about... mmm I'd say about four hours just getting the basic melody and another two tweaking it :D

I'm really glad you liked this piece, and as you and MaestroRage say, I will keep fighting the good fight.

Christ, why does everyone feel like using that phrase? :D

Good piece!

This would remind me of a creation by Henning Lohner, Jardin D'Amour. It has that sweet, yet sorrowful sense to it that Henning is always capable of. Perhaps you should do a remake of Jardin D'Amour, yet I don't see it happening because I do not have his score to give you.

On in all, you've managed to pull of a very sad and effective emotional song. I believe this will move many people with its beauty and cunning score, therefore I give you my thumbs up.

p.s. Your author comment is rather interesting. It appears romantic, yet when read deeper, it is rather morbid.

MusicalRocky responds:

Never heard of Henning, but I must check him(her?) out, mustn't I? (Garden of love? Am I right?! Haha). Very true, sweet yet sorrowful indeed. It's all right, I might do a remake by ear :P

Thanks, I'm glad I succeeded in your eyes, Bosa! Thanks for the thumbs up.

True about the author comment. It is pretty depressing :[ Glad you noticed that though, I suppose.

Thanks for the indepth review!

Excellent!

Excellent work, Lawrie! Mixing piano with guitar always has a soothing effect to the ears. It sounds like it could fit professionally into a light drama - you're something Hollywood needs to look into!

Even though it has a repetitive mood, that doesn't stop me from listening to it again. It seems to drive my mind forward, allowing it to drift into a calm state of being. With practice, you could become very successful in the music business; if you want to, of course.

Lawrie2 responds:

why thanks a lot!

Good show!

Excellent work, MaestroRage. Even though it's a little too loud for my ears, the performance was top notch. It actually sounds Mongolian.

Your talents become better with each passing day. I'm also glad to hear you snagged top composer of 07! That's quite an achievement.. more than what I could do ;)

Once again,
Bosa

MaestroRage responds:

Hey Bosa! Long time no see my friend :D! Thank you for dropping by and leaving a review!

I honestly didn't think they were going to have a musician trophy, so it was a rather unexpected surprise! I am told these things are heavy enough to kill people. If they are also finger print resistant, i'm going to go out to town one day ;D!

Once again, thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Well, I have to hand it to ya'

It's a good track overall. It sounds like a rehearsal session rather than an actual performance.. no offense intended. You're making a good start by submitting a live performance and I'm sure you'll get far here on the audio portal if you keep on practicing!

It's better than what I can do jazz-wise,
Bosa

RadioactiveRhino responds:

Thank you Bosa! And as for the rehearsal session, that sorta is what it is. So, that means it turned out well :P

And hearing that last line from you means alot.
I'm putting that in my imaginary online NG scrapbook!

I'm a boy again

Well, I have to let you know how much I appreciate the effort in this excellent track. I gotta say that this brings back so many memories that my mind is about to explode. Man, when the Babb Boys go back to Cherokee, I wish you'd be there to play this track so we can learn a thing or two about good music.

Sentinel94 responds:

A review from the legendary Bosa? I really dunno if I deserve this. I've always loved yer music and it means a lot to me to hear you appreciate this track. Thanks mate!

Excellent and Brilliant

I believe I recognize this program. It be Edirol HQ Orchestral. Am I correct?

Anyways, this is a well developed score with sort of a mediocre performance by the program. I really don't like some of the instruments on the program, especially the woodwind and some of the strings. However, don't let my words get you down from this genre. As I sit here, listening to your music, I am reminded of how I was back in the day and you should not turn from the classical genre. There is a lot of ability to express yourself in the music and you should take a creative lifestyle within symphonic music itself.

Honestly, I don't always look at the performance, I rather listen to the score.. if that makes sense. Every note that's played, I take notice and I try to understand everything that is going on during the music. Your aggressive use of percussion is well noted in my book. It adds excitement, but restrain yourself from using too much. Too much bass tapping can can cause it to overlap itself and give a small mastering issue. But, you managed to use the staccato bass which is an interesting trick. It's sort of a muffled bass hit. You get the impact, but there is no or little reverb involved. It's useful when you really have to use a lot of bass but you don't want mastering issues. I would recommend the normal bass when you just use it here and there, but you managed to use it effectively in this episode and you're developing quite well in music.

I do hope you will continue your musical journey and find your true talent within composing great and masterful scores. You may even be our next top composer here on Newgrounds someday! Just don't turn your head and never let anyone get to you and cause you to quit making music.

Sincerely,
Bosa

Kimken responds:

Wow, such a long review.
Edirol = Yes it is!

You are completely right about edirol. It does have it's weak instruments, like most of the strings and woodwinds. I could have EQ'd this song and it would sound a bit better, but not sure if i have the score left since this is such an old song.

Oh. I understand what you mean about listening to the score rather than the song. I try to do so myself when i listen to music from other people.

Don't worry! music is my passion and i will HOPEFULLY never quit/give up! There is much improvement for me out there!

Thanks for the long review! i hope you like our other songs (even though we make different genres than classical most of the time, but it's a challenge to compose classical pieces too!)

Ah, my kind of music!

Nice, short, and to the point. I love it! I do indeed see my self in a peaceful place on the island of my dreams. May I ask you a question, though? Did you use a certain program to make this?

plazmaroar12 responds:

i used a guitar loop
a bass loop
2 or 3 drum loops
and this voice acting loop
i was experimenting with the samples
but i have Fruity Loops Now
which is like you make your own loops
soo i have to focues on making my own loops
thanx for liking it =D
im hoping to make more of this in the future

Hey, buddy.

Hey, buddy! I'm glad you're going back on a right track. It'll take some time, but keep practicing. Eventually, you'll end up with something good and you'll get a great name for yourself.

Good luck,
Bosa

Lost-Wisdom responds:

Thanks, I'm sure if I work hard on what I do. I can become as great as one of you. Haha.

Excellent

Ahh.. I'm lovin' it. The greatest warrior of all time, Achilles, has returned for another round of kick ass. As his great blade cuts the throats of idiots, his myrmidon look on in awe at his style of movement and the intestines of the dead warriors.

Oh.. went a bit too far there. I mean, the blood of the dead warriors.

Rage, you've shown me a new light. A light that cannot be broken even by the strongest of men.

The only thing that could be improved upon this track is the amount of choir staccatos. I would have loved to hear an epic roar of choirs with the women staccatos. But, what you was just as good.

(I wish to also suggest a film for you to view. It is called, "Heavy Metal" and it was an animation made back in 1981. The orchestrations in this movie is stupendous and inspirational. Especially the orchestration near the end when the woman is flying to the city. That orchestration is what inspired me to make Domhail.)

A 10/10 from me.

MaestroRage responds:

heh, can never go too far in stories involving gods.

I will seek this animation Bosa, I have not seen it, but I will. Thank you for the suggestion.

The choir staccatos could have played a bigger, fiercer role here. I don't rightly know why I didn't. Maybe at some point I decided against it, though now I can't remember why.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it! I apologize for the delayed response :(

Hit me up anytime you want!
