Good

It was very well constructed, I think. The dynamics you added in the strings at the beginning was well placed, however the tech-music that followed afterward was ill in a sense.

Of course, it is just my own personal opinion, but I think adding a less fast paced beat into the track would have made it easier to listen and follow with, although beats in classical music is definitely not required. It was a good first attempt, and very close to what I first created in the Classical genre. You've done well for yourself, and I sure hope to hear more of this genre from you. It would be a great shame if you decided to give up on this genre.

Holy Crap

Holy crap.

As soon as the guitar came in, I realized what this song truly reminded me of. Something post-apocalyptic, like the Terminator or something. It has a very 80s feeling to it at the beginning around 2:04, and I love it. It seems that your music is upon the mantle of my favorites, and this song is definitely going on the top ten list.

I can see this is quite an achievement you've got here. I'm praying that you will make more songs like this, perhaps something completely 80s oriented. You've managed to mix a dramatic score, and I have to say that I'm in love with it!

Hey Bosa, thanks for the review! It sounds like you heard what I was going for. The game is set quite far in the future, and I was going for a sound that was more than just an orchestra. I think the addtion of rock elements with the ballad/ambient-style breaks fits really well in an orchestral setting and gives the whole score an eerie sound.

I'll definitely be experimenting with this sound more in the future. Glad you enjoyed it!

Very Good

Very simple at what it does, and it is definitely a soothing track. There's a heraldic feeling to it - you might say. A person could listen to this over and over again if it was playing during a game or movie.

MaestroRage responds:

and that sir, is precisely what it was made for.

I'm glad you caught onto it's use. Thank you for the review. I'll hit you up with one myself soon!

Now we are TALKIN!

Aw yeah! Sorohan, you are truly the king of jazz. As I'm a fan of jazz myself, I can truly appreciate the effort and talent you put behind your music. You're way out of my league in music, but I'll always be the one to support you the rest of the way!

This piece reminds me of Roger Rabbit, and that's a good thing.

sorohanro responds:

:)) well, if my music would be sexier it would remind you of Jessica Rabbit :))

Thanx for review man, feel free to download and use my free trumpet samples ;)

Not bad..

I can picture myself hearing this music at an arcade or while playing Unreal Tournament. It's actually pretty, good, yet could use some different beats and segments - as it gets sort of repetitive in some parts. Also, the ending was sort of abrupt, but not enough to really bother me. I think that you will turn out to be quite a musician here on Newgrounds.

I liked it.

An 8 from you is like a 1000 from anyone!! Tanx a lot BOSA!!!

Very dramatic

This is definitely drama at its height, perhaps even epic drama - depending on how you listen to it. I'm quite impressed by what you've managed to create here! It actually has a dark feel to it, something that I love to hear. I'm not gonna give you beef about sound samples or vsti's, as I'm sure you realize there's not too many people on here who actually goes out of their way (money-wise) to have a live band or orchestra play for them. I actually prefer the sounds you used, as they remind me of a dark-themed roleplaying game or film. It is very nostalgic and inviting, and I love it.

Sweet

I really like this kind of music, this is what I listen to when I'm working. It sounds more like smooth jazz than funk, though I can definitely sit back and relax to either genre. You've really produced quite a jam here; did you have your own group musicians perform for this track? It is quite impressive.

shaunchasin responds:

Yeah the whole idea of classifying it into one genre is always hard. What puts it into funk for me is the 16th note subdivision the whole time. Those rhythmic pushes, anticipations and stops.
I would love to have played it with a group of people but didn't get the chance. The recording you're hearing is all samples that I played in with an axiom 61 midi controller with the exception of the guitar which is me.

Thanks for the comment :)

I can picture it

You know what this reminds me of? Those old cartoons set in medieval times that came on PBS and FOX Kids - kinda like that crappy Legend of Zelda animated series.

But this song is far from crap, as it is superb in my opinion.
